Of Mice and Men

It was such a tiring day for me,for there was only one period without class.

Getting up at 7, I finished all the odds and ends before taking my English class. We studied Americans and the Land,an article of John Steinbeck (史坦貝克,1902-1968),who won Nobel Prize for Literature in 1962 ,and his most  famous works was The Grapes of Wrath (1939,憤怒的葡萄).

When the professor introduced the life of the author, she talked about his other works, one of which was Of Mice and Men (1962,人鼠之間).

I've read it before because it was one of the teaching materials when I went to Jordan English School. The teacher was a black people named Tony.He was such a interesting person that all of the classmates liked him very much. And he was the man who gave the reading to us.

The book was thin, but it wasn't that easy to us. (We were about 15 or16.)Not because of the advanced words the characters used ,but of thier poor English that made us felt confused often. And it was not until we read that book did I learned so many kinds of four-lettered words (三字經).XDDDD

The story was about 2 people,George and Lenny. They paused in a town to work at a farm for living and then left for another. One day, they stopped their journeys to work and somethig  bad occured to them...

The ending was sad . George had to kill Lenny  by himself though there were deep feelings between George and Lenny.I felt very sorry for them everytime I think of it.

Perhaps that is the reason that John Steinbeck is considered as a great  writer. The peolple in his works were so real that we easily sympathize and then empathize with them because they had the same feelings, reflections and plights as we do.
